This show is not better than Resident Alien. It's on par. Each are different genres of Sci-fi. This is a drama, Resident Alien is a comedy. Each does what they're doing really well.

That's because it's not. It's an adaptation of the same book David Bowie's movie is based upon.
I see people comparing this to resident alien but It's so much better, better production quality & It's leaning towards more serious tone

It seems they copied some of 'Resident Alien' with the weird smiling face while talking and came to earth to save or destroy. Although, it's a really good show. Comedy/SciFi/Drama.
I've watched all eps of "Resident Alien" and both eps of this. Completely different stuff – first is basically a sitcom, comedy – great watch, BTW. This has got some comedic (or rather awkward) moments when the alien is learning to be human – but it is not comedy. but quite sophisticated and well acted sci-fi thriller/drama (based on film, same title, 1976). Both well worth your time…
