No doubt – well produced series … But (IMHO) – too much time given to teen drama, too much talking and too little action. And this Superman is too wimpy, gets whipped too often, basically – WDF happened to all-powerful, gang-ho Kryptonian macho guy I've come to love over 50 years ago? π₯ β‘ (Well, he's got a wife and two teen sons – that would change anybody π)
I like the focus on family. Makes Superman seem human. Dude seems stressed in the show; never seen that in the movies. But that's just my opinion.
Respect, Mate π However – (everybody has different likes, right?) – that's my issue – "Makes Superman seem human". I rather that he stays Superman π

Personally, The S1 finale was Great!!! The acting, story, cinematography all of it. But what I liked the most was Music in the Finale, it really kept me interested and at the Edge of my seat. Goosebumps throughout the whole episode. As always, Thanks Doc and Val for uploads. π

Depends when the source comes out.
Had to stop watching the pilot after ~30min, and haven't managed to force myself to finish it yet. Most positive reactions seem to praise how it looks visually (for good reason), but fail to mention the story/characters = writing.
Also, I've never seen a pilot which does nothing but throw expositions for possible storylines at you. "Here's possible forced drama 1, drama 2, drama 3 ..get excited!"
I can't speak for everyone here, but I can tell you why I liked the pilot, from story perspective. It was based on realistic scenarios of rural US, rich businessmen buying mortgaged lands, using people for cheap labor, etc. It focuses on completely different arc of Superman as a parent, which has never been experimented before. What it wasn't was a 20+ min 50s sitcom which took the story nowhere

Surprised reviews are this high. It's better than average CW show, but I am paused half way through because it's a slog. It's setting up to be another CW teen drama, centered on Superman's twin teenage boys. One is all american jock, the other is all angsty. It either about them fighting with each other, or parents worrying about them. Also really don't like Lois actress. Arrow-verse fans only.
I second that . A complete different story arch altogether. What used to be the story line of previous Superman films is shown in the first 2 mins. There are so many lame moments that come & go , like one where he fights the villain and returns home as if nothing happened. But none the less , the visuals are a treat.

Better than I expected. Being a CW show though, it has to be PC: hot white girl and a black (non-white) boyfriend.
I don't doubt that it will be very PC – like most everything else today – but I'm having trouble picking out the "black boyfriend" in the main cast. I've not watched the show and don't really intend to, but at IMDb their photos all look quite white (non-black) to me.
The black bf was a very minor character that was in the ep for about 5 seconds and his color had nothing to with the overall plot. If someone actually wants to nitpick on the show, try something that actually makes sense, like how the story is a little tropey being a CW show. SMH.

This first episode was good. I always wanted a Man of Steel 2 but this will do fine for a TV show.
Everything is better than what we saw of Superman in CW before. The color tone, the vfx, the acting, the more 'grounded in reality' Marvel-Netflix like feel (whatever that means for a superhero show)..
But most importantly, the storytelling.
I'm sold.

The main problem is that this guy is not nearly handsome enough to be Superman.
I really don't want to comment too much, but the number of ppl hating on this without even watching it is too damn high. I agree he's no Henry Cavill but he certainly fits the role well and nails the Clark Kent part. This is precisely the reason MoS 2 is not getting made soon, people hating on the DCEU just cos what they get isn't what they had in mind, and WB execs helping ruin it.

Well I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this, but it's been confirmed that JJ Abrams is rebooting Superman, and that they're introducing a black Superman.
I'm more of a Batfan but the news was disheartening to me as well π
It's sad how Cavill & Affleck never got the chance to fully showcase their range.
I'll just stick to Reeves' Batman from now.
You never know with JJ cuz it'll either be a blockbuster success or a dumpster fire.

This was a pleasant surprise tbh. I was expecting another hammy CW show but they got Superman right and the high budget shows on screen well. I hope this doesn't become like the other CW shows, a good first couple of seasons and then go downhill.

Most CW shows don't start out well enough to go downhill. Most are garbage from day 1. This may be in exception in that it starts out well. Supernatural is the only CW that I can think of right now that was decent and it started on the WB, and luckily CW didn't ruin it.
Well, Arrow, Stargirl and The Flash have great first seasons and Legends of Tomorrow was a wild ride till the end. I take it you haven't seen them all, but yeah CW has this trope of catering to teens and having over the top melodrama that ruins good shows in later seasons.
